The short version
You can use the public map without an account and without giving us any personal information. If you create an account, we store your email address and the spots you choose to save. We never sell your information, and we never share it with anyone except the services that run the site.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google or an email link, we receive and store your email address and, for Google sign-in, your basic profile (name and profile photo). We use this only to create and operate your account. Authentication is handled by Supabase. We also store the start and expiry times of your one free Crown Campsite Finder session with your account so the offer cannot reset when the page refreshes.
Saved spots. Spots you save on the map (title, note, and map location) are stored with your account and are visible only to you.
Payments. CrownAccess Plus subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and never touches our servers. We store only your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference.
Usage analytics. We record anonymous product events (for example, which map layers are toggled and which guides are opened) to understand what is useful and improve the map. These events use random session and browser identifiers, not your name or account, so we can measure repeat visits without identifying you. On our guide pages we also record which links are clicked, how far down a page is read and for how long, the website that referred you (its domain only), and any answer you choose to give to "Did this help?". Please don't put personal details in that box.
Guide launch lists. If you ask to be notified when a CrownAccess guide launches (for example the forestry, ATV, hunting, snowmobiling, or trapping guides), we store the email address you enter, which guide you asked about, the time you consented, and the page you signed up from. The forestry form also lets you optionally describe an area of interest and a preferred alert radius, which we store with your signup. We use this information only to send the launch notification you asked for. It is not a newsletter signup, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing. These signups are stored in our Supabase database. To be removed from a launch list, email us and we will delete your entry promptly. We never sell this information.
Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we access only your email address and basic profile information, and we use it solely to create and sign you in to your CrownAccess account. We do not share Google user data with any third party, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it. CrownAccess's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
The iPhone app
The CrownAccess app for iPhone signs in to the same account as this website and shares the same saved spots, so everything above applies to it as well. Three things work differently on a phone.
Your location. If you allow it, the app reads your position from the phone so it can draw you on the map and centre the map where you are. That position is used on the device and is not sent to us, and we keep no history of where you have been. You can refuse the permission and everything else still works. The one way a coordinate reaches our server is if you choose to save a spot: its latitude and longitude are stored with your account and are visible only to you, exactly as on the website.
Subscriptions. A subscription bought inside the app is handled by Apple rather than Stripe. Apple charges your Apple Account and tells us only that the subscription is active; we never see your card. Subscriptions bought on this website are still handled by Stripe.
Deleting your account. The app has a Delete Account button in Settings. It deletes your saved spots, your subscription record and the account itself, and cancels a Stripe subscription immediately. It cannot cancel an Apple subscription — only you can do that, from your Apple Account settings — so cancel there first if you have one.
Services we rely on
CrownAccess runs on a small number of infrastructure providers, each of which processes data only to provide their service: Supabase (accounts and database), Stripe (payments on this website), Apple (subscriptions bought in the iPhone app), Vercel (hosting and web analytics), and Mapbox (map tiles).
What we never do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not build a profile of you. On the web the map moves only where you move it; on the phone your position is read only to draw it on your own screen, and it stays there.
Deleting your data
You can delete individual saved spots at any time from your account panel. To delete your account and everything attached to it, use Delete Account in the iPhone app's Settings, or email us and we will remove it promptly.
